Industrial buildings - pagaddertoren

Pagaddertoren

The “Pagaddertoren” was designed by artist Frans Van Praet. The Chamber of Commerce “Antwerpen-Waasland” had it built to honor its 200th birthday. The complete construction is made out of metal. Frans Van Praet worked with Frisomat before (Belgian Pavillon on World Expo 98) and knew Frisomat fit the job.

Every part was specially designed and produced. The cold rolled 100% galvanized construction was to be 27m high. All parts fit together like a huge meccano-kit. The 19,6 ton construction was assembled in no more than 20 days although it was never done before. All elements were transported by boat to the building site.

After its temporary use in the old city (next to the river) the tower was sold. A Belgian water purification company bought it to be part of an educational tour on their site. The tower offers a marvelous panoramic view over their renewed site. The architectural design fits perfectly in the complete renewed facility.
